About the Center

The Chemical Dependency Center at Hoag Hospital is one of the nation’s foremost facilities in helping chemically dependent adults and their families understand the disease of addiction. Hoag provides unparalleled medical care and emotional support in a beautiful setting of comfort and calm. In this safe and supportive environment, health, dignity and personal relationships can be renewed. It is the ideal place to begin the journey toward lasting sobriety.

From its prime location overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the hospital is a familiar landmark to Southern California families who have trusted Hoag since it opened in 1952. Hoag Hospital continues to maintain the community’s confidence by providing state-of-the-art medical care and personal attention. These qualities consistently place Hoag among the nation’s top hospitals and have made it the area’s most respected healthcare provider.

Staff members at the Hoag Chemical Dependency Center provide the human side of recovery. They bring the professional credentials, clinical experience and compassionate care necessary to assist patients and family members toward a healthier lifestyle.

The treatment program at the Hoag Chemical Dependency Center is for adults 18 years and older. Drugs of addiction treated at the center include; alcohol, opiates (heroin, pain pills) sedatives (valium, xanax and barbiturates), stimulants (cocaine, amphetamines), hallucinogens (LSD, PCP) and cannabis (marijuana).

The center is designed to promote recovery for both the chemically dependent patient and his or her family. Patients are given the tools they need to develop a new self image, initiate and enjoy positive life changes and stay clean and sober. Families are an integral part of the treatment process. Both patients and families learn appropriate, healthy ways of coping with stress and changing behavior patterns. Follow-up studies of our center demonstrate an excellent success record.
