Pharmaceutical Care Services at Hoag

The pharmacy offers an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated individuals to practice their profession while staying on the leading edge of therapeutic advances. Pharmacy staff members utilize the latest technology and automation including a computerized pharmacy profile system, CPOE, automated TPN compounder, Pyxis stations and C-II SAFE.
Pharmacy professionals participate in the most recent developments in pharmaceutical science through affiliations with the School of Pharmacy at the University of California at San Francisco and the University of Southern California. Doctorates of Pharmacy candidates from both schools spend six-week rotations at Hoag Hospital learning from clinical pharmacists. Additionally, the pharmacy conducts an ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency Program.
Through its strong clinical pharmacy programs and collaborative relationships with the nursing and medical staff, the pharmacy makes significant contributions to the high level of patient care at Hoag. In addition to dispensing, evaluating and monitoring patient medications, pharmacy staff members are actively engaged in patient education and serve as a drug information resource to the medical and nursing staff.
