Ask your own physician about how best to manage heart valve disease. If a referral to a valve repair specialist is needed, it is best to find a team consisting of a surgeon and cardiologist who both specialize in the treatment of heart valve disease. Many heart surgeons have experience only with valve replacement or ring implantation. Also, be sure to find a one that works closely with cardiologist with echo expertise.
