The team of highly trained medical specialists practicing at Hoag utilize the latest state-of-the-art therapies and leading-edge treatments, and are recognized leaders in fields such as oncology, cardiology, neuroscience, orthopedics and women’s health services.
Hoag Cancer Center’s medical director was named Orange County’s Physician of the Year in 2006 by the Orange County Medical Association (OCMA).
Greater Newport Physicians Medical Group (GNP), a medical group at Hoag Hospital comprised of nearly 400 physicians, ranked among the top four physician groups in Orange County by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA).
Designated Magnet Hospital
Hoag is the first community hospital in Orange County to achieve Magnet Status for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Spring 2005-2006 Beacon Award Recipient
Hoag’s Critical Care Unit/Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CCU/CVICU) and Neurological Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) are recipients of the Spring 2005-2006 Beacon Award given by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) to recognize the nation’s top hospital critical care units.

- Hoag Cancer Center consistently maintains cancer survival rates well above national figures and has been designated a comprehensive community cancer program by the American College of Surgeons.
- Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute physicians perform more cardiovascular surgeries and procedures with better outcomes than any other hospital in Orange County.
- Hoag Neurosciences Center is home to Orange County’s only Gamma Knife and the highest volume brain tumor program in Orange County.
- Hoag Orthopedic Services features largest, most experienced medical staff in the area, with more than 40 physicians specializing in advanced orthopedic and spine procedures.
- Hoag Breast Care Center, a service of Hoag Women’s Health Services, was the first total direct-to-digital mammography facility in Orange County and is the only facility in Orange County to offer dedicated breast MRI.
