  • Getting to the hospital immediately may mean the difference between life and death
  • Don’t delay, call 9-1-1 immediately if you or a loved one experience symptoms of stroke

Symptoms of Stroke

  • Sudden change in vision – blurred, or loss of vision
  • Sudden confusion or difficulty speaking/understanding words
  • Sudden weakness in face, hand, arm and/or leg on one side of the body
  • Sudden loss of balance or difficulty walking
  • Sudden heaviness or numbness in face, hand, arm and/or leg on one side of the body
  • Sudden severe headache
Even if the symptoms only last a few minutes, it could be a mini-stroke, TIA (transient ischemic attack). TIA is also an emergency that requires immediate medical attention. An unrecognized and untreated TIA may be followed by a major disabling stroke.
