Expert Maternal Child Care
Hoag is dedicated to supporting its experienced obstetrical team in developing and following nationally benchmarked best practices in maternal child care. Hoag-affiliated obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and certified nursing staff offer advanced care to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries, establishing Hoag Hospital Newport Beach as the highest volume birthing hospital in Southern California. To locate a Hoag-affiliated physician near you, click here.
Established through the Easton Health-in-Pregnancy Program, board certified OB/GYNs are available onsite at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach 24/7 to provide the highest level of care to pregnant and laboring women through immediate obstetrical consultation, emergency management and assistance in delivery or caesarean section. Hoag’s OB Hospitalist Program does not change the relationship a patient has with her personal obstetrician, but rather enhances it by providing access to timely, high-quality care until the patient’s personal physician can arrive onsite.
Another key component of Hoag’s renowned maternal child services program is its focus on delivering family-centered care through its highly trained team of certified mother-baby nurses. The mother-baby nursing team is committed to partnering with new mothers and their families to promote education and parent-infant bonding. Additionally, as a Certified Baby-Friendly™ Birth Facility, Hoag Hospital Newport Beach provides unparalleled support and education for breastfeeding mothers and their infants through its team of International Certified Lactation Consultants.

State-of-the-art Facilities
The Sue and Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion at Hoag Hospital was specifically designed to create a first-class experience for all patients and their families. Included in the pavilion is an advanced fetal diagnostic testing unit to monitor the health of both mother and her unborn baby in a comfortable and relaxed setting. A state-of-the-art
seven-bed antepartum unit for women who require hospitalization prior to labor is located adjacent to the 18 fully equipped labor, delivery, and recovery suites. For women undergoing a cesarean section, Hoag has three dedicated operating rooms and an experienced team whose highest priority is to provide safe, quality care to both mother and baby.
As part of its commitment to comprehensive maternal child care, Hoag Women’s Pavilion is also home to an expert Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staff of highly trained nurses and neonatalogists who provide specialized, around-the-clock care for infants born prematurely, or with complications.
Hoag Hospital Irvine
As excitement builds in anticipation of the opening of Hoag Hospital Irvine in Fall 2010, we have received inquiries as to whether obstetrical care will be one of the services offered at the new Irvine campus. The answer is no. Newport Beach will continue to be the sole home of the county’s largest and most respected maternal child services program. With every element in place to ensure the safest, most comfortable and patient-centered maternal-child care available, the Women’s Pavilion at Newport Beach will continue to be the home for Hoag’s renowned maternal child services program, and obstetrical care will not be offered at the Hoag Irvine campus.
